Due to the continued growth, Our Aerospace client is looking for Senior Simulation Software Engineer to join their Ground Systems team in Oxfordshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be instrumental in the future development of a key component of their innovative satellite servicing spacecraft and work with them to achieve their vision of making a positive contribution to the problem of space debris.
Their missions rely on powerful satellite simulators for validating and preparing the mission operations. Thus, they need skilled engineers to develop state-of-the-art simulators in-house, with responsibilities across the whole lifecycle, from design and development to testing and deployment.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise for the development of simulators. You will be simulating satellites in the toughest conditions and simulating performing manoeuvres in close proximity to other space assets. As a senior member of the team, you will work on all aspects of software development of state-of-the-art simulators, from analysis and design, through to testing and deployment as well as mentoring team members.
Embedded Software Engineer – Responsibilities
- Design, develop and validate onboard Flight Software for spacecraft.
- Define ICDs, development and verification plans.
- Coordinate with other teams at the sub-system and system level to identify software needs and solutions.
- Perform Flight Software verification, validation, and integration.
- Participate in Mission System Test and Simulation campaigns.
- Support knowledge transfer from my client’s teams globally and provide technical review inputs to projects across the whole organisation.
Embedded Software Engineer – Essential Skills
- 3+ years’ experience in software development for real-time embedded systems (C/C++).
- Knowledge of software development methodologies & embedded software engineering.
- Experience developing software for the aerospace/ space sector.
- Experience of implementing real-time systems and software.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with commonly used protocols and standards for communications, such as CCSDS, CAN, SpaceWire.
- Experience in all stages of mission design lifecycle from initial concept to design, test, and operations.
- Experience in development for VxWorks or RTEMS platforms
- Experience of SPARC V8 or PowerPC architecture.
- Familiarity with UML.
- Development of Linux systems.
- Linux system administration, shell scripts, make, etc.
- Knowledge of scripting languages.
- Knowledge of cFS software framework.
