Principal RF Systems Engineer – £110k – Farnborough

Due to our continued growth, Our space client is looking for an Principal RF Systems Engineer to join their Satellite Communications team in Farnborough.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a professional background in Digital System and Wireless communication background to assist in Electronically Steerable Antenna Array development across various products/projects

This role will focus on the development of RF, Digital and Mixed Signal processing at the Physical layer.

Principal RF Systems Engineer – Responsibilities

• Provides technical and engineering leadership, and supports the development of new technologies
• Able to oversee and guide problem solving of complicated technical challenges
• Enhancement of existing DSP algorithms and implementation of new algorithms in DSP
• Work in close collaboration with other teams for design, development and commercialization of new features
• Support testing and validation of algorithms and antenna performance in lab and field and be part of prototype and product demonstrations for clients.
• Successful candidate should have demonstrable ability to lead projects and produce high quality technical documentation for internal and external purpose

Principal RF Systems Engineer – Essential Skills

• Experience of wireless standards, radio, antenna and/or modem architectures
• Experience of RF, Digital and Mixed Signal processing
• Strong experience with Physical layer systems algorithm and firmware development involving development of system models for solving complex signal processing problems involving wireless communication channel and antenna arrays.
• Experience of of digital signal processing techniques and modelling using Matlab
• Experience of designing and/or assessing software, firmware and hardware solutions within an overall system design
• Development experience with DSP and optimization of DSP codes
• Programming/software engineering skills with knowledge of Matlab and Python
• Hands-on knowledge of test equipment (Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer etc), setting up and running automated tests

Principal RF Systems Engineer – Desirable Skills

• Software Defined Radio (SDR)
• Electronically Steered Multi Beam Antennas (ESMA)
• Advanced standards, such as DVB-S2X.
