Principal PCB Design Engineer – £60k – Hereford

My client is looking for a Principal PCB Design Engineer to join their exciting team who are global leaders in all RF Distribution and Satellite communications

The PCB Principal Design Engineer will take on an innovative and productive position supporting the Team Leader/ Department Head by designing and developing RF and digital PCBs. The role will include schematic capture as well as PCB layout work and requires a highly experienced individual who will have previously held a similar position within the electronics industry

The main skills needed for Principal PCB Design Engineer in this role are:

• Degree or equivalent in an Engineering/Electronics discipline
• A minimum of eight years’ industry experience in a similar role
• IPC CID+ qualification or demonstrable knowledge of IPC standards relevant to PCB design and manufacture
• DFM/DFA techniques
• PCB fabrication techniques and associated PCB materials
• Extensive knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout using one of the leading CAD packages, e.g., Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics, Zuken, CADSTAR etc.
• Experience of Gerber file creation and manipulation (RS274x and/or ODB++)
• PCB assembly build packs including Bill of Materials (BOMs), Fit-lists, Pick and Place files, assembly drawings, etc.
• Experience in ECAD library maintenance

Experience in the following would be advantageous:

• Experience of using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
• Thorough understanding of electronic principles
• RF/High-speed layout practices
• Switch mode power supply (SMPS) layout considerations, and high current applications (e.g., up to 30A)
• Mains potential routing (e.g., 240 VAC) and associated requirements
