Mid-Level Software Engineer – £42k – Somerset
My client is a major player in the Life Sciences sector are looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join their exciting Team who are working on cutting edge technology to help develop robots and contribute to cures for cancer and renewable energies.
Due to the success of the company, they are looking to expand the team considerably in 2021/22 and this Mid-Level Software Engineer will be the person responsible for:
- Developing software features based on customer requirements
- Maintaining an existing code base
- Researching new technologies
- Ensure code is well tested by creating appropriate unit tests
- Produce clean, well-commented code
- Planning new features and changes to a product
- Demonstrating new ideas and features to stakeholders
- Coach team members through buddy-buddy learning
- Attending conferences and events related to a product or sector
- Inspiring and enthusing colleagues and users of the product
- Learning about users and a product’s market
The main skills the Mid-Level Software Engineer will needed:
- 3-5 years commercial experience as a software engineer with a CS bias
- Solid experience in, C, C# & C++ or other Low-level language experience
- Experience developing software features based on customer requirements
- Object orientated skills are essential, as well as knowledge of software best practices
- Experience solving multifactorial problems
- Experience with GIT, BitBucket and Agile PM tools such as Jira or Liquid planner is
- Robust testing (unit, integration) experience
- Willing to undertake training to improve skill set
- Strong interest in technology, innovation, and robotics
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational skills
Additional Skills:
- Experience with robotics or consumer products
- Experience in board-level driver development
- Familiarity with microprocessor architectures and peripherals
- Experience with some of the following is highly desirable but not essential; Linux, Kotlin, Java, & HTML – CSS – JavaScript – TypeScript.
- Experience in working in an Agile project management environment
- Experience using Google productivity suite is an advantage.
- Experience with containerisation (e.g. Docker)
