Hardware Engineer (Digital, PCB, LVDS)  – £65k/£55 per hour (Outside IR35) – Manchester

The role may include, but not be limited to the following activities:

• To carry out general engineering tasks as required by the business.
• With the support of other members of the team, carry out more specialised electrical, electronic design tasks associated with the above and below the sea surface environments.
• Share their knowledge and experience with other members of the team.

The Hardware Engineer (Digital, PCB, LVDS) focus will be:

• Board level Digital & Analogue circuit design, development and debug
• PCB design, production of board level specifications from system requirements
• Create accurate Circuit Simulation
• Create Interface definitions, both on and off circuit boards
• Signal transmission and processing design, matched impedance, signal termination, LVDS, serial communications signal integrity
• Create design with circuit level serial interfaces I2C, SPI, I2S
• Design Interfacing between LVPECL, VML, CML, and LVDS, M-LVDS Logic I/O Level and voltage translations
• Creation of circuit-level schematic drawings
• Use Layout tools
• PCB component level pre-placement to ensure good EMC and EMI
• Production of PCB layout specification documentation
• Define and support the production level product test and development
• Design and validate special to type test equipment (STTE)
• Design power electronics circuits, i.e. voltage greater than 60V
• DC and AC circuit design, single and multi-phase
• Thermal management, forced air, liquid cooling, fan controllers
• Create and properly document design to meet European CE and UKCA approvals
• Create wiring harness definition documents
• Ethernet circuit design
• Optical circuit design
• Design with Common Inter-IC Digital Interfaces for Audio Data Transfer
• Analogue and Digital Audio design, mixed signal circuits
• DDRx memory circuit design, layout, and simulation
• Designing with Embedded Microcontroller design
• General understanding of Engineering Development life-cycles
• Good interpersonal skills
• Proactive “can-do” mentality
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Must have Microsoft Office suite experience
• The individual will be expected to demonstrate a level of autonomy, work unsupervised.
• A logical approach to problem solving is required.

• Experience of Allegro Design entry HLD (cadence)
• Networking Design.
• Firmware Design using HDLs, VHDL, OpenCL
• Designing to meet EMC requirements
• Environmental Regulatory testing for, vibration, shock, temperature, EMC
• HALT testing
• Design techniques to achieve MTBF, FIT, MTTR, MTTF design requirement targets
• Experience and understand of Interconnect design tools such as Zuken E3, Formboard
• Power supply design experience.
• Experience of designing products for harsh environments
• Experience of DFx
• Familiar with ATE, JTAG and BIT & BITE circuit techniques
• Design experience with RS-232,422,485 serial standards
• Industrial interfaces, automation, panel wiring, electro-mechanical relays, solid-state relays
• Circuit protection techniques
• Scripting or Programming Languages, C,C++, Python, Perl, TCL/TKL, Bash
• Designing PCIE, VME, PCIx, openVPX circuit cards

• Salary £35,000 – £65,000 (depending on Candidate Experience) + Benefits
• UK citizenship is mandatory to be able to clear the background checks and obtain SC clearance
• Current valid SC clearance would be an advantage
