Embedded Software Engineer – £65k – London

My agricultural client is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join their exciting start-up who are working on innovative technology which tackles greenhouse gas emissions. Due to the success of the company, they are looking to expand the team.

The Embedded Software Engineer will be the person responsible for:

• Task planning, prioritisation, proactive monitoring and compliance with scheduled delivery dates.
• Feature analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance for device firmware and companion applications.
• Integration and maintenance of Software libraries developed by external parties.
• Creating unit tests for the device firmware as it is continually developed.
• Contributing to code structure, reliability, features, and power consumption.
• Writing clear source code documentation to explain the code’s functionality.

The main skills the Embedded Software Engineer will need:

• 5+ years of experience in software development for embedded systems in C/C++
• Peripheral configuration, coding and debugging experience of ARM Cortex M processors.
• Experience with electronic communication standards: RS232, I2C, SPI, USB, etc.
• Experience in network communications.
• Experience with integration of low power radios, e.g., BTLE, LoRa, Zigbee etc.
• Experience with product testing harness and documentation
• Experience developing PC apps to interact with hardware.

Nice to Have Experience:

• Linux environment experience – Bash scripting, compilation.
• Embedded Linux experience, Kernel cross-compilation for ARM Cortex A processors, DT, U-boot, driver development.
• Python and/or C# Visual Studio programming experience
• Build automation to create version-controlled production firmware releases.
• Communication with REST API or MQTT servers
• Working within an Agile environment in sprints

The role offers flexible working on avg 1-2 days a week at home – when creating your designs, you can do this from home but when you need to be working on the product/hardware itself this work will naturally need to be in the office.
