Embedded Software Engineer – £80k – Farnborough
Due to our continued growth, Our space client is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join their Satellite Communications team in Farnborough.

This role will focus on the development of embedded DSP code for satellite communication systems
Embedded Software Engineer – Responsibilities
- Development of embedded DSP code for satellite communication systems
- Implementation of DSP algorithms, control and HW driver code for satellite communication systems
- Optimization of embedded DSP code for MIPS/Memory constraints
- Debugging and verification of DSP code in a lab environment against a system simulator
- Close collaboration with other teams for the design, development and commercialization of new features
- Enhancement of existing DSP algorithms and development of new Algorithms using system simulation tools like Matlab
- Customer Support
- Analysis and resolution of DSP/PHY layer-related issues reported by customers, resolution and timely delivery of SW updates
Embedded Software Engineer – Essential Skills
- 3-5 years of Embedded software development experience
- Embedded software development experience with C/C++
- Experience in HW driver development and low-level chip bring-up and debugging.
- Experience in developing driver code at a VLSI level which would involve developing drivers from scratch based on the register map of a chip and debugging issues on a chip, running system tests and similar.
- Development experience with DSPs and optimisation of DSP code
- HW driver development for wireless modems (BareMetal)
- Debugging of embedded systems using JTAG, Spectrum Analysers, Oscilloscopes, …
- Assembler programming
- Commercial SW support throughout its lifecycle
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of wireless standards, ideally DVB-S, but other wireless standards acceptable as well
- Experience with code management and defect tracking tools
- Knowledge of scripting languages, ideally Python
