Embedded Linux Software Engineer – £75k – Farnborough
Due to our continued growth, Our space client is looking for an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join their Satellite Communications team in Farnborough.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a professional background in Embedded Linux Device Driver development looking to take the next step in their career and be part of exciting and innovative projects in space.
This role will focus on the development & maintenance of existing Beamforming Embedded Software products
Embedded Linux Software Engineer – Responsibilities
- Develop & maintain existing Beamforming Embedded Software products.
- Timely delivery of software to a variety of product lines integrating with customer projects
- Maintain code quality standards using industry recognised tools;
- Contribute to evolution of the design and product roadmap;
- Support automation tools and continuous integration methodologies;
- Take ownership of issues on products and engage with customers as appropriate;
- Produce documentation at all levels of lifecycle (concept, design, training material etc.);
Embedded Linux Software Engineer – Essential Skills
- Experience of full lifecycle embedded software development.
- C/C++ embedded SW engineering experience, preferably on ARM or similar processor;
- Experience working with embedded Linux embedded (kernel and user-space development and debugging, Yocto, Buildroot, low level drivers);
- Communication interfaces; Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, USB;
- Low level Device Driver experience and ability to develop integrate and test;
- Python/Perl scripting knowledge;
- Version Control experience For example GIT, SVN.
- Excellent Interpersonal skills.
- Independent, self-motivated, team player and multitasking capabilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Embedded Linux Software Engineer – Desirable Skills
- Knowledge on RF fundamentals and communications theory desirable but not essential.

My client can offer a 2-stage process consisting of a 1st stage Video Call and a 2nd Stage will be on onsite Technical interview. This process can be completed within 1 week (based on availability)
