Design Engineer – £70k – Swindon or Chelmsford

My client is a leader in advanced millimetre wave technology. They operate in the communications, satellite, aerospace, and defence markets with innovative monolithic microwave integrated circuits (mimics), packaged modules, sub-systems, and complete high-definition radars and satellite transceivers.

They are looking to recruit a Design Engineer to work for their Innovative Space-focused business based near Swindon or Chelmsford. As an experienced engineer, you will have proven design experience with transceivers at Ka, Q, and V bands. In addition, you will understand and be able to design phased array antennas at Ka-Band particularly. You will be part of a small team and be expected to initiate and lead projects as a key team member.

Design/Project Engineer – Responsibilities

• Initiate the project – check feasibility and work out budgets, teams and resources
• Carry out planning – this will include setting goals and objectives, defining roles and producing schedules and timelines for tasks – in accordance with the needs of your client.
• Select, lead and motivate your project team from both internal and external stakeholder organisations
• Manage the project – which includes coordinating the project team to keep them on track and keeping the project on budget
• Carry out monitoring and control activities in order to track the progress of the project
• Identify and manage risks to ensure delivery is on time
• Implement any necessary changes throughout the process including remedial actions to reduce time and cost overruns.
• Report regularly to management and the client
• Close the project – including evaluating successes and challenges

• Analogue Design
• EMC regulations Experience
• Experience of  transceivers at Ka, Q, and V bands
• Understand and be able to design phased array antennas at Ka-Band particularly
