Lead Engineer / Head of Hardware – £72k+Equity – London

My agricultural client is looking for a Lead Engineer / Head of Hardware to join their exciting start-up who are working on cutting edge technology which tackles greenhouse gas emissions.

Due to the success of the company, they are looking to expand the team considerably in 2021/22 and this Lead Engineer / Head of Hardware will be the person responsible for:

• Managing their team of electronic engineers and embedded software engineers,
• Coordinating and executing hardware related activities ahead of planned manufacturing in (Q2 2022),
• Coordinating and executing testing and compliance activities related to the hardware planning,
• Liaising with third party consultancies and development partners

The main skills the Lead Engineer / Head of Hardware will needed:

• 10+ years’ experience in relevant roles
• Extensive RF knowledge
• Antenna design for wireless topologies
• Wireless communication protocols, BLE, LoRa, ZigBee
• Testing and manufacturing experience
• Ability to undertake all regulatory compliance including risk assessment, EMC, etc
• Advanced PCB design experience
• Track record of leading hardware teams
• Leading and managing electronics design projects to ensure manufacturability, safety and performance is optimised
• Experience in low power design and power optimisation
• Embedded firmware development using C/C++
• Ability to coordinate and manage partnerships, collaborations, and/or consultancy work

Nice to have

• Python or other scripting languages

The role offers flexible working on avg 1-2 days a week at home – when creating your design, you can do this from home but when you need to be working on the product/hardware itself this work will naturally need to be in the office.
