Technical Project Manager – £45k – Somerset

My client is looking for a Technical Project Manager to join their Research and Development team. You’ll become an intrinsic part of the greater Research and Development department working side by side with our software and robotics engineers as well as our in-house microbiologists to design, develop, build, and test the next generation of Laboratory Robots.

You’ll be joining at the beginning of an exciting new programme of product development where customer value comes first and foremost, Agile PM style. That means we’ll be testing prototypes with scientists, getting fast feedback, and iterating quickly.

This is a varied, project-based role, taking robotics features and projects from customer derived concept to market. To achieve this, you’ll need to be technically savvy in either mechanical, electronic, robotic or software engineering, likely having pivoted to agile project or program management part way through your career.

The main skills Technical Project Manager will needed:

  • 5+ years commercial experience as an Engineer in mechanical, electronic, robotic or software engineering
  • 3+ years of experience as a project manager in an Agile environment
  • Proven background of Agile project delivery
  • Deep understanding of Agile PM practices such as Sprint Planning, Review, Retrospective and Stand-ups
  • Qualified and in practice Scrum Master or similar status
  • Ability to facilitate user story workshops and elicit requirements from the project and client stakeholders
  • Expert level knowledge of Jira, Confluence and Burndown Charts
  • Ability to coach, teach and pass on Agile PM knowledge to a team
  • Personal interest in technology, innovation, and robotics
  • Experience with fast-cycle product development feedback loops
  • Excellent written, report writing and verbal communication skills

 Additional Skills:

  • Understanding of electronics, robotics, mechanical or software engineering development
  • Experience with robotics or consumer products
  • Understanding of ergonomics and product usability
  • Experience using Google and Atlassian (Jira & Confluence) productivity suites is an advantage
  • A passion for disruptive technologies

 What’s on offer:
