Senior Hardware Engineer – £70k – London

My agricultural client is looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join their exciting start-up who is working on innovative technology which tackles greenhouse gas emissions. Due to the success of the company, they are looking to expand the team.

The Senior Hardware Engineer will be the person responsible for:

• Component selection and circuit design to meet design and cost requirements.
• Schematic entry and PCB layout in Altium
• Hardware testing to ensure the design meets requirements & compliance standards.
• Creating unit tests for the device firmware as it is continually developed.
• Contributing to code structure, reliability, features, and power consumption
• Writing clear source code documentation to explain the code’s functionality.
• Developing and managing IOT devices

The main skills the Senior Hardware Engineer will need:

• 5+ years of PCB design
• Familiarity with Altium
• 3+ years of experience in C/C++ for embedded (microcontroller) systems
• Experience with low-power electronics design
• Experience developing NFC products.
• Experience developing IOT products and managing devices in the IOT portal (AWS)
• Experience in rapid prototyping and developing devices that we will deploy in nature.
• Experience with product compliance (CE/FCC) – testing, documentation, certification

Nice to Have Experience:

• Linux environment experience – Bash scripting, compilation.
• Python programming experience
• Build automation to create version-controlled production firmware releases.
• Working within an Agile environment in sprints

Nice to have experience in:

• Oxidation experience
• Medical device experience
• Farm / Agriculture experience
• Consultancy

The role offers flexible working on avg 1-2 days a week at home – when creating your designs, you can do this from home but when you need to be working on the product/hardware itself this work will naturally need to be in the office.
