Lead Mechanical Engineer – £85k – London.

My agricultural client is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their exciting start-up who are working on cutting edge technology which tackles greenhouse gas emissions.

Due to the success of the company, they are looking to expand the team considerably.

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be the person responsible for:

• Supporting key design decision making alongside other senior and lead engineers
• Provide quality drawings and CAD for prototyping and fabrication of parts.
• Hands-on prototyping and building of test samples.
• Producing and maintaining thorough and accurate design project documentation
• Preparing, testing, and monitoring the progress of trials so that all failures to meet requirements are corrected in a timely manner and communicated effectively to the team.
• Implementing design changes that are evaluated for feasibility, cost, and timing and implemented with care and thoroughness.
• Supporting other departments with problem-solving and other project activities

The main skills the Lead Mechanical Engineer will needed:

• New product/technology concept development
• Development of mass manufactured products
• 3D CAD (Solidworks, OnShape)
• 2D sketches and concepting.
• Good understanding and aptitude for fluid/thermodynamics
• Very practical person
• DFM
• Manufacturing methods (3D printing, CNC’ing, vacuum casting, etc.)
• Cradle to grave projects
• FMEA
• GD&T
• Hands-on testing
• Manufacturing at high volume / production lines
• Product data management / Engineering changes
• CAD Surfacing / Assemblies

Nice to have experience in:

• Oxidation experience
• Medical device experience
• Farm / Agriculture experience
• Consultancy

The role offers flexible working on avg 1-2 days a week at home – when creating your designs/drawings you can do this from home but when you need to be working on the product/hardware itself this work will naturally need to be in the office.
