Hardware Engineer ( High Power, RF, PCB, Hardware) – £55k – South Wales

My client is looking for an Hardware Engineer ( High Power, RF, PCB, Hardware) to join there exciting team focusing on new products.

Your focus will be:

  • Develop and facilitate new generator projects entering operations ownership for production via a balanced approach to enable the business to move forwards in Design and manufacturing
  • Helping to shape the transfer to manufacturing process to aid all parties moving towards increased satisfactory clinical product within agreed timelines
  • Development of medical device hardware within the ISO 13485 QMS environment to address issues as they arise from the field or production process
  • Iterative design, development, and assessment of signal & control, power converter, RF synthesizing, and microwave circuits ensuring design to industry best-practice
  • Schematic capture, high power PCB design (Proteus and/or Altium preferred), component selection to manage obsolescence and component failures
  • Understanding of electrical hardware to assess and investigate RF and microwave circuitry to identify faults by applying excellent test and debugging skills using spectrum analysers, power meters and oscilloscopes to identify faults within a PCB or electrical generator
  • Understanding of fault analysis to ensure evidenced root causes are supplied and documented effectively
  • Close team working with all business functions, with specific interfaces to manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Purchasing and Supply chain
  • Develop strong working relationships with 3rd party specialist to ensure a sustainable and reliable manufacturing process is created and developed through product lifecycles
  • Plan, coordinate and effectively manage the implementation of design improvements to deadlines, ensuring no disruption to manufacturing or R&D activities and within the confines of the regulatory requirements
  • Seek to positively influence and increase alignment of the quality management system with the practical realities of the business by seeking ways to streamline and optimise all associated processes, documentation, record keeping and data analysis
  • Attendance at pre-clinical trials, along with drafting and agreement of the necessary trials protocols and records
  • Balance design solutions across a range of disciplines to identify the most efficient solution for the business

Key Skills of the Hardware Engineer ( High Power, RF, PCB, Hardware)

  • Experienced working within a Quality Management System such as ISO 9001 or ISO 13485
  • Excellent engineering and root cause analysis problems solving skills (demonstrable use of problem-solving tools) with an ability to trouble shoot mechanical, electrical and electronics designs
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics to meet tight deadlines
  • Enjoys being part of multifunctional team where the facts lead the decision making
  • Ability to prioritise work based on patient and business need
  • Experience in understanding and applying risk management principles to the design, development and production process
  • Experience of working in a highly technical engineering environment and understanding when consultation is the right approach to achieve results
  • A team player, that understands the need for task owners to lead their tasks and support when other members lead tasks
  • Proactive to continually develop their own skills and that of the team
  • A strong quality focus and excellent attention to detail

  • Understanding of C programming would be desirable, along with software unit test experience
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally as and when required

Salary:

  • Salary £45,000 – £55,000 (depending on Candidate Experience) + Benefits
