S2, Ep11: The Hardest Question – What’s Your Biggest Failure?

This is the ASIC and SoC Insider, inside the interview episode 11. The hardest question, what’s your biggest failure? This question makes people nervous, but it’s one of the best ways to show growth, resilience, and leadership.

For context, interviews aren’t looking for perfection. They’re looking for humility, learning, and how you bounce back.

They’ll ask, tell me about your biggest failure. A good answer or an example of one is, early in my career I underestimated regression infrastructure during A-P-C-I-E project. As a result, coverage closure slipped by weeks. I took ownership, documented the gap, restructured regressions, and bought in automation specialists.

More importantly, I built a new process to prevent the issue in future projects. This experience taught me that infrastructure is critical as test content. And it shaped the way I plan verification today.

The best answers are honest, accountable, and growth focused. Don’t dodge failure show you own it and improved from it.
