Principal / Distinguished / Fellow – AI Software Architect (Compute / Frameworks) – UK / Europe (Flexible / Remote) – £180,000 – £220,000+ base + 30% bonus
My client’s specialist software and architecture team is looking to add a Principal / Distinguished / Fellow – AI Software Architect to support the development of next-generation compute and graphics IP.
This role is focused on defining how AI workloads are deployed, optimised, and executed across GPU and accelerator-based platforms.
You will operate at the intersection of AI frameworks, runtime systems, and hardware architecture — ensuring that software and hardware are aligned to deliver optimal performance.
AI Software Architect Role & Responsibilities:
- Define and drive AI software and compute strategy
- Evaluate and optimise frameworks such as PyTorch and related ecosystems
- Work closely with architecture teams to map workloads onto hardware platforms
- Improve performance through runtime, compiler, and system-level optimisation
- Support prototyping and development of AI workloads
- Influence how AI capabilities are integrated into broader compute platforms
- Collaborate across software, architecture, and product teams globally
AI Software Architect Essential Skills:
- Strong experience with AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)
- Deep understanding of:
- Inference and deployment
- Performance optimisation
- Experience working with GPU or accelerator-based systems
- Exposure to compiler stacks (MLIR or similar) is beneficial
- Ability to operate across software and hardware domains
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
